Staatliche Museen zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz

In their fifteen collections, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin preserve over fifteen million objects of art, archeology, and ethnology, ranging from Nefertiti in the Neues Museum and works by Caspar David Friedrich in the Alte Nationalgalerie, to magnificent prayer niches in the Museum für Islamische Kunst (Museum of Islamic Art) and the masterpieces of Surrealism in the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg (Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection). Three famous research institutes and the Gipsformerei (Replica Workshop) are also part of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.

The collections are presented at various locations throughout Berlin: Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte, the Kulturforum in Berlin-Tiergarten and in Charlottenburg, Moabit, Dahlem, and Köpenick. As of the end of 2019, exhibits from the Museum für Asiatische Kunst (Asian Art Museum) and the Ethnologisches Museum (Ethnological Museum) will be shown in the newly completed Humboldt Forum in the heart of Berlin.
